The Good (Google) Life

November 9, 2007

After receiving tens of millions of dollars when he cashed out his Google stock options, Aydin Senkut knew he had enough money to quit his job and start a new chapter in this life.

“Google money gives you a comfort level,” said Senkut, a senior product manager at the Mountain View, Calif.-based search giant, who left in April 2005 after nearly six years with the company. He hasn’t retired, though. Senkut has been plowing some of his Google money into start-ups. The windfall has also allowed him to visit his parents in Turkey for several months, and purchase his childhood dream car: a Lamborghini — in orange. “I just wanted to get it in a color that was fun,” he said.

Highest Real Estate Sale In NYC History

November 9, 2007

Real estate mogul Leonard Blavatnik just can’t seem to get enough of New York real estate. He’s already spent $50 million for the Bronfman townhouse this summer, and also bought a $27 million apartment in the city but now he may set a real estate record. The billionaire has signed a letter of intent to buy five co-op apartments at The Mark hotel. Braden Keil of the NY Post reports that Blavatnik has offered $125 million, although the developers want $150 million. Contracts can’t be signed yet because prices of the units have not yet been approved by the state Attorney General’s Office. Another NY real estate watcher, Max Abelson of the NY Observer reports that it is far from a done deal.

The hotel, which is located at 25 E. 77th St., between Madison and Fifth avenues, is currently being renovated. The space for sale is nearly 30,000 square feet on the top three floors of the building. The apartments also come with 3,900 of outdoor space including a rooftop terrace with a fireplace. If they were sold separately the apartments would have a total of 23 bedrooms. As with most hotel properties, this one comes with hotel-style amenities such as maid and room services. Blavatnik is worth around $7.2 billion according to Forbes .

Lamborghini Holiday Pack

October 26, 2007

Who says gas guzzlers and green can’t get along? And what better time than Christmas is there for the latter to — extend a branch — to the former? Lamborghini makes it all possible with its limited edition Christmas collection, which includes specially-hued tree ornaments.

Candles come in packs of two, one large and one small. Ornaments — or as Lamborghini calls them, baubles — come in packs of three. The ones pictured are glazed in Arancio Borealis orange, which is one of the Gallardo Superleggera colors. But you can get them in other colors, like Noctis Black, Telesto Gray, and Midas Yellow, if the orange doesn’t suit your holiday decor.

For those who can’t join you for taurean-tinged festivities, there are Christmas cards in packs of 20 featuring pictures of the Reventon. And for the person who has everything, there are even Lamborghini pencils, because we’re quite sure no one has a set of those.
