Juice Crew Reunite to Headline A3C Festival

March 19, 2008

It’s been about a decade since the legendary Juice Crew last rocked a stage together, but in a matter of days, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Marley Marl, MC Shan, Roxanne Shante, and Craig G will reunite for a headlining performance at the fourth annual A3C Hip Hop Festival. Unfortunately, Masta Ace will not be able to make the trip because of some previously scheduled promotion for his new album.

The Juice Crew’s set goes down this Friday, March 21– right in the middle of A3C, which takes place at Atlanta’s CW Midtown Complex from March 20-22. Other performers at the festival include Clipse/Re-Up Gang, Del the Funky Homosapien, Three 6 Mafia, Little Brother, Jeru the Damaja, Aceyalone, Guilty Simpson, Akrobatik, and Public Enemy’s DJ Lord.

Festivalgoers can also check out a producer showcase judged by the Alchemist and No I.D. (with special appearances from DJ Toomp and Don Cannon), an early morning Clipse/Re-Up Gang signing at the flagship New Era store in Atlanta, and a panel discussion about women in hip-hop

The Clipse Sign With Columbia

October 26, 2007

After years and years and years (and years) of being unhappy at Jive, the Clipse have finally moved on and signed on with the new Columbia. Also, it seems as if Pharrell will be taking a back seat role…

The Clipse will own the masters for its Re-Up Gang artists, Ab Liva and Sandman. Next year, the Clipse will issue a Re-Up Gang album as well as a new studio disc, but for the first time, the latter will not be produced solely by the Neptunes. Instead, the brothers are anticipating working with Timbaland, Danjahandz and Dame Grease.

“I can honestly say that we were all friends before the music and will be friends to the end,” Malice says of his relationship with the Neptunes. “Everything is business. If we had our way, we would always be on Star Trak. But it’s what’s working for you and what’s not. We just want good energy, and Columbia has both the urgency and the muscle.”
