So from your perspective, do you think you’ll be at Def Jam next year?
Yeah, I think – I don’t know. Let me not even say that. I don’t know. We’ll see how it goes. But seriously, it’s not about money. That’s really the last thing. Of course, as a person that does these type of things and puts his heart and soul into it – and it’s effective, as the Grammys would indicate – you want to be compensated for what you do. But it’s really not about money. It’s really about the future of the music business, and not wasting anyone’s time.
Just when you thought that the draw of YouTube was to create your own content and get free press out of the deal, Google’s video service just upped the incentive. Launching the YouTube Partner Program, the video giant will actually pay you to produce compelling content. The requirements seem simple: create original videos, own the copyrights, get them viewed by thousands, and live in the US or Canada. Sounds easy, right? Of course, few seems to have the regular prowess to get thousands of people to check out each upload, but hey, at least YouTube is interested in the little guy. Sure, some of their partners include Universal Music, Victoria Secret, and the NBA, but smaller contributors are also on their payroll, including everyone’s favorite Chocolate Rain guy. Think you’ve got what it takes? Make the jump to apply.
No matter how rich you are and no matter what kind of perks the airlines may offer you in first class to make your flight more comfortable, there’s one thing that they’ve never offered no matter who you are: mid-flight wi-fi internet access.
JetBlue is changing that. They aren’t offering enough bandwidth to surf the net necessarily, but just enough to make checking and sending emails through Blackberries and other devices, even laptops, possible. The new perk is now being offered on select flights only, on a trial basis. But JetBlue expects within about six months to be rolling out internet access company-wide.

It’s official, as of this weekend both of Google’s billionaire co-founders will be off the market. Larry Page will marry his girlfriend, Lucy Southworth this weekend (his parter-in-search Sergey Brin married earlier this year). Page and Southworth are getting married on Richard Branson’s private playground, Necker Island, in the Caribbean and Richard Branson will serve as Page’s best man.
The NY Post’s Page Six reports that the wedding is a “logistical nightmare” because planners have to coordinate lavish places to stay for all of Page and Southworth’s 600 guests which are said to include the Clintons, Bono and a whole gaggle of billionaires. The wedding hasn’t just taken over Branson’s island, most guests will be staying at Little Dix Bay Resort on Virgin Gorda with boats and ferries being pressed into service to get the guests over to Necker Island. Page is also booking private jets to fly guests in from all around the world.
Including album of the year…lord help us if he doesn’t win.

I thought a Rolls-Royce was luxurious but the new Phantom Tungsten is downright seductive! (There is something about a rare metal with wheels). At the recent Middle East motor show held in Dubai, Rolls rolled out this limited edition ride and all of its amazing features. If you like the outside you’ll love the trimmings on the inside. A starry night is simulated on the ceiling and the East Indian rosewood veneer, which snuggles up next to the smoke gray and navy blue contrasting leathers, makes for a spectacular car.
Continental Airlines is set to begin a new pilot program that will allow customers to board their flights with a cell phone-based boarding pass. Could the days of paper boarding passes be over? It seems plausible. The airline will be testing the new system with passengers departing from Houston, with the program is starting very soon, and slated to last for 3 months. If it’s successful we could see a wider rollout, as well as other airlines jumping on board. The system sends a unique barcode to each passenger’s cell phone with the messages then encrypted and directly tied to the customer’s handset, so the risk of fraud is low, especially when combined with appropriate photo identification. The passenger simply opens the message, which is scanned by door clerk. Voila.
