Juice Crew Reunite to Headline A3C Festival

March 19, 2008

It’s been about a decade since the legendary Juice Crew last rocked a stage together, but in a matter of days, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Marley Marl, MC Shan, Roxanne Shante, and Craig G will reunite for a headlining performance at the fourth annual A3C Hip Hop Festival. Unfortunately, Masta Ace will not be able to make the trip because of some previously scheduled promotion for his new album.

The Juice Crew’s set goes down this Friday, March 21– right in the middle of A3C, which takes place at Atlanta’s CW Midtown Complex from March 20-22. Other performers at the festival include Clipse/Re-Up Gang, Del the Funky Homosapien, Three 6 Mafia, Little Brother, Jeru the Damaja, Aceyalone, Guilty Simpson, Akrobatik, and Public Enemy’s DJ Lord.

Festivalgoers can also check out a producer showcase judged by the Alchemist and No I.D. (with special appearances from DJ Toomp and Don Cannon), an early morning Clipse/Re-Up Gang signing at the flagship New Era store in Atlanta, and a panel discussion about women in hip-hop

The Raconteurs Reveal Consolers Tracklist

March 19, 2008

So the idea is, you’re not gonna get to hear Consolers of the Lonely, the just-announced sophomore set from Jack White and Brendan Benson’s Raconteurs until it’s actually issued March 25 on Third Man/XL/Warner Brothers. That’s this coming Tuesday– six whole days!

You can, however, now gaze longingly at its tracklist and imagine what it’s gonna sound like. Will “The Switch and the Spur” be a country-rock jam? Will “These Stones Will Shout” be the Stones-y shouter? Could “Many Shades of Black” be their Sunn O))) homage? See, we don’t know, and you don’t either, and that’s what’s so great about all this. It’s like the last ten years never happened!

As you know, the Raconteurs are hitting the road in support of their new disc, and Raleigh, North Carolina’s Birds of Avalon have apparently been handpicked by the band to open their initial string of North American dates…read more at Pitchfork Media

Juelz Santana Arrested…found with weed, bullets and Jolly Ranchers

March 13, 2008

From the NY Daily News

Abraham said he smelled marijuana and saw a green leafy substance on the center console as well as marijuana roaches and Dutch Master and White Owl cigars used to make blunts.

Santana, who was born in Harlem, also had a hand-rolled cigar laced with marijuana in his shoe, cops said.

In the trunk, police said they found 29 hollow-point bullets wrapped in a sock and $19,500 rolled in small bundles and hidden in a plastic bag filled with “hundreds of Jolly Rancher” candies.  “

40/40 FAILS INSPECTION.NYE PARTIES IN TROUBLE??

December 29, 2007

Resigning from Def Jam doesn’t worry Jay-Z but this one might.

The hip hop mogul’s new Las Vegas club reportedly failed to pass a health and safety inspection leaving his New Year’s Eve plans in disarray.

The boyfriend of R&B singer Beyonce Knowles was due to ring in the New Year at the latest branch of his upscale sports bar, The 40/40 Club, but the L.V. venue’s opening will most probably be delayed after the surprising setback.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton cites a source as saying, “Unless Jay-Z and his team miraculously come up with certain licenses and certificates by Sunday, then they won’t be ablt to go on with their New Year’s Eve party plans.”

And if that happens, then the rapper superstar will be forced to refund all tickets to the club’s grand opening
