The boyfriend of R&B singer Beyonce Knowles was due to ring in the New Year at the latest branch of his upscale sports bar, The 40/40 Club, but the L.V. venue’s opening will most probably be delayed after the surprising setback.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton cites a source as saying, “Unless Jay-Z and his team miraculously come up with certain licenses and certificates by Sunday, then they won’t be ablt to go on with their New Year’s Eve party plans.”

And if that happens, then the rapper superstar will be forced to refund all tickets to the club’s grand opening

David Banner, Cuba Gooding Jr. Set to Star in Upcoming Film About the Juice Crew

Rapper David Banner and Academy Award winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. are set to appear in an upcoming independent film about Marley Marl’s legendary Juice Crew. Called The Vapors, the film will chronicle the rise of the groundbreaking Queens collective that counted MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Craig G, Tragedy Khadafi, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, Masta Ace, and Roxanne Shanté as members. According to Blackfilm.com, Banner will play Biz Markie, while Cuba Gooding Jr. will fill the role of pioneering DJ and crew founder Marley Marl. Other cast members include singer/actress Keke Palmer as Roxanne Shanté and The Wire’s Idris Elba as Tyronne Williams a.k.a Fly Ty. Marley founded the Juice Crew in the late 80’s and they went on to release the classic posse cut “The Symphony,” followed by a number of monumental solo records from individual members. MC Shan’s “The Bridge” famously ignited a battle with KRS-One and his Bronx based Boogie Down Productions, and Shanté’s “Roxanne’s Revenge” spawned a seemingly endless string of copycat and response tracks. Big Daddy Kane, Marley and Roxanne Shanté are all executive producing the film in conjunction with Questionmark Entertainment. Director Furqaan Clover is expected to helm the project, and filming is scheduled to begin in January 2008.

Don Imus returned to the airwaves this morning before a live studio audience, introducing a long list of cast members on his new morning show including a black woman.

“I want to take a minute to introduce this new incarnation of “Imus in the Morning,” Imus said.
His debut, on WABC-AM, completed a comeback that seemed improbable at the height of the uproar back in April over his calling the players “nappy-headed hos.”

Man Arrested For Trying To Deposit A $1 Million Dollar Bill

A bank teller in Clearwater had a million reasons not to open an account for an Augusta, Ga., man Monday, authorities said. Alexander D. Smith, 31, was charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of forgery after he walked into the bank and tried to open an account by depositing a fake $1 million bill, said Aiken County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Michael Frank.The employee refused to open the account and called police while the man started to curse at bank workers, Frank said.The second forgery charge came after investigators learned Smith bought several cartons of cigarettes from a nearby grocery store with a stolen check, Frank said.The federal government has never printed a million-dollar bill, Frank said.
